Description
No. 35 High Street is a shop and dwelling built in the late 18th century and refronted around 1880. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with a stucco front. It features a gabled stone slate roof and brick end stacks. The layout consists of two units over two storeys, with a two-window range.
On the left side, there is a segmental-arched entry with panelled double doors. To the right, a late 19th-century four-panelled door with an overlight is present. The elaborate late 19th-century shop front includes a panelled half-glazed door flanked by two-light windows. It is supported by cast-iron shafts entwined with foliage, featuring side-scrolls on the capitals, and has a frieze decorated with latticed diamond shapes and rosettes. The first floor contains tripartite sash windows. The interior and rear of the building have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
