Description
The Methodist Church is a church built in 1850 by J. Wilson of Bath. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled Welsh slate roof. The west front has a gable with gabled offset buttresses and a hood mould over a 4-light window in the Decorated style, situated above studded doors that are set in a pointed moulded doorway. There are also hood moulds over cinquefoil-headed lancets, each with mouchettes in the head, leading to the side aisles. The 5-bay side walls contain ogee and cinquefoil-headed lancets. The east end features a rose window with quatrefoils and stained glass. Inside, there is a gallery along the sides with an open-quatrefoil frieze. The east wall has pointed-arched doorways flanking a pointed moulded blind arch, which is set on engaged shafts with foliate capitals. The church has a 5-bay hammer-beam roof. A late 19th-century extension at the rear is not of special architectural interest. The church is included for its group value.
