Description
Nos. 48 and 50 High Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early 17th century, with a front added in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with brick ridge stacks. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, with a three-window range. The central door, which is from the 20th century, is flanked by 20th-century shop windows. On the first floor, there are mid to late 19th-century two- and three-light casement windows, as well as a tripartite sash window to the right. Inside, the building has heavy chamfered beams and a winder staircase to the right. The roof structure consists of a four-bay collar-truss with butt purlins.
