Description

No 1300 is an early 19th-century house located on Melton Road in Syston. It is constructed of brick and features a low-pitched Swithland slate roof. The building is three stories tall and has a two-unit plan with a doorway that is slightly off centre. To the left of the door is a three-light window with a lower central opening light. Above this, there are two three-light horizontally sliding sash windows, as well as one in the attic storey. All of these windows have flat arched brick heads. The door is framed by a reeded architrave and is topped by a slight canopy supported by consoles. To the right of the door is a large six-light window, which also has a canopy on consoles above it, and features wide moulded architraves and brackets at the sill, indicating it was likely a former shop window. The house has a gable and chimney stacks.
