Description

This is a late 18th-century house, likely originally of brick construction with a rough cast render finish, situated on Melton Road in Syston. The front elevation features three gables. The left-hand gable contains a sash window with 20 panes on each of the two floors. The central, higher gable includes three-light sash windows on each floor and a doorway framed by an architrave with a keystone. The right-hand gable has a window dating from around 1890, characterized by smaller panes in the upper section. All windows are similarly detailed with architraves and keystones. The front of the house is angled over two storeys, with a right-hand section featuring a single bay containing 20-light sash windows on each floor. To the left of this, the main entrance has an architrave of pilasters and an entablature, framing a six-panelled door with a recessed panel above. Two further 20-light sash windows flank this, one on each floor, also with architraves and keystones. The roof is covered with Welsh slate to the front and Swithland slate to the rear. Gable end and axial stacks are present.
