Description

No. 16 School Street is a house from the late 18th century, with an earlier core that may date back to the 17th century. The exterior is roughcast over a brick or timber frame, topped with a thatched roof. The house is two stories high and has a two-unit plan. A central doorway features an architrave with clustered shafts and arched consoles that support a flat canopy adorned with dentils. The lower windows are three-light horizontally sliding sashes with wooden shutters, while the upper windows are two-light horizontally sliding sashes. The gables are finished with brick copings, and one gable end has a moulded brick stack, while the other features a round shaft.
