Description
Sharnford War Memorial is a war memorial built in 1920. It is made of limestone and features a stone obelisk set on a plinth with a moulded cap and foot, resting on a two-stepped square base. The plinth has inscriptions in incised black lettering that read: "IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 (NAMES) THEIR MEMORY LIVETH EVERMORE ECCLES 44 14 IN LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 – 45 (NAMES) THEIR GLORY SHALL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT ECCLES 44 V 13."
