Description

Sharnford Methodist Church is a Methodist church built in 1827, with 20th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof and a brick plinth. The building has two storeys and two bays. The south front includes a central 20th-century panelled door set in a round-headed opening, which has a blocked fanlight above it. This door is flanked by single round-headed windows with wooden Y tracery. Above the door is a datestone inscribed '1827', and above that are three similar round-headed windows with Y tracery.

On the west side, there is a 20th-century round-headed door to the left and two larger windows with Y tracery to the right. The east side features two similar windows, and to the right, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey addition. The rear of the church has a central external stack and two 20th-century three-light casements on each floor, both with segmental heads.

Inside, the church has a matchboard dado and a central pine pulpit at the front, which is on a bracketed base and has steps leading up to it. Behind the pulpit is a matchboard panel with a text above it, and there is a plain gallery with stick balusters above. To the left of the pulpit is a grained six-panel door, and to the right is a six-pane sash window. At the rear, there is a moulded panelled raked gallery supported by two iron posts, which is accessed by a winder stair with stick balusters. The interior fittings include 19th-century panelled pews, early 20th-century benches, and a 19th-century organ housed in a Gothic case.
