Description
This is a cottage located at 1 New Walk, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of random granite rubble, possibly incorporating timber framing and brick, with a roughcast and colourwashed front, topped with corrugated asbestos and plain tile roofs. It features two brick gable stacks and is a single storey with attics, comprising three bays.
The front of the cottage has a central 20th-century flush door, flanked by two 20th-century three-light casement windows, all featuring segmental heads. To the left, there is a single-storey 20th-century addition with a lean-to glazed porch that covers a close boarded door and a casement window. The north gable includes a small three-light casement window with a segmental head positioned above to the right.
The rear of the cottage has a deep rubble plinth and a roughcast first floor. To the left, there is a tiny barred fixed light window, and above to the left, a 20th-century two-light casement window. The interior has been refitted in the late 19th and 20th centuries but retains an 18th-century ladder stair.
