Description
The former Sapcote Church School, built in 1819, is now a photographic studio and house. It was constructed at the expense of John Frewen Turner and features brick with ashlar dressings and plain tile roofs. The building has a plinth, rusticated quoins, moulded eaves, and a combination of single ridge, single corner, and two lateral brick stacks. It is a single-storey structure with three bays arranged in an L-plan.
On the north side, there is a moulded roundel on the right inscribed 'This school was erected and endowed by John Frewen Turner, esq AD 1819', and below it, a tablet that reads 'Sapcote Church School'. Flanking this are round-headed keystoned windows with rusticated surrounds, featuring 19th-century triple lancet glazing bars. To the left, there is a smaller window with double lancet glazing bars. Each gable has a central three-light wood mullioned casement window, flanked by single transomed casements, all with segmental heads.
The double-gabled rear wing includes a recessed porch on the north side, with an inset 20th-century glazed door and a lintel inscribed 'Girls and Infants'. The south side has a 20th-century flat-roofed addition.
