Description

This is a cottage, likely dating to the late 17th century or possibly earlier, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble and brick, with some areas rendered and ashlar and brick dressings. It has a thatched roof with two brick gable stacks, raised coped gables and kneelers. The cottage has quoins and is arranged over a single storey plus an attic. The front of the cottage faces East Street and features a rendered plinth, a centrally positioned 20th-century glazed door, a two-light casement window to the left, and an inserted bow window with a tiled hood to the right. The first floor is stone and has a chamfered plinth above the brickwork, with a single, two-light gabled dormer with casement windows to the right. The rendered east gable has a single plain sash window at first floor level. The rear, south-facing front has a single-storey glazed lean-to across most of the front, containing an original six-panel door. Inside, the cottage retains two-panel doors, two cupboards with two-panel doors and side and over panels, a contemporary staircase, and a complete, contemporary roof structure.
