Description
No. 22 East Street is a house built in 1775, with later alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with modillioned eaves and two 19th-century gable stacks. The building has two and a half storeys and a three-bay front. The central doorway has an overlight and a panelled door, flanked by single plain sash windows. Above, there are single plain sashes on either side of a narrower plain sash with margin lights. The upper storey was raised in the late 19th century and has small plain sashes flanking a central 20th-century pivotal casement. The ground and first-floor windows have flush wedge lintels. A round ashlar datestone above the first-floor central window is inscribed with 'AWH 1775'.
