Description
Tudor Cottage is a house that was originally a row of four cottages, built in the late 17th century with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features timber box framing with a rubble plinth, roughcast brick nogging, and a slate roof added in the 20th century. It has a single brick ridge stack and is two storeys high plus garrets, arranged in an L-plan with two bays. The corner posts are supported by braces.
The north front includes two bow windows, and above them are two glazing bar casements with three and four lights. On the east side, at the return angle, there is a 20th-century door, a single casement to its left, and a three-light casement beyond that. Above these, there are two three-light strip casements. To the right, there is a gabled wing with a 20th-century door and a single casement next to it. The south side features a single casement on the right and a three-light casement on each floor to the left. The rendered west side has no openings.
The interior has been refitted in the late 20th century but is said to retain the original common rafter roof with single purlins.
