Description
This is a Grade II listed milepost located on the south side of London Road in the parish of Shardlow and Great Wilne. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost is of the bobbin type, featuring a narrow circular stem and a cylindrical head with a moulded top, standing approximately 3 feet high. The west side of the head is inscribed with 'LONDON 120 MILES', while the east side bears the inscription 'DERBY 6 MILES'. Both inscriptions are in raised lettering and are set within small panels. The milepost is inscribed 'HARRISON. DERBY'.
