Description

This is a milepost located east of Risley Grammar School, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a bobbin type design with a narrow circular stem and a cylindrical head that has a moulded top, standing at about 3 feet high. The west side of the milepost is inscribed with 'NOTTm/8/MILES', while the east side has 'DERBY/8/MILES'. The stem is inscribed with 'HARRISON, DERBY'.
