Description

This is a Grade II listed milepost located south of Thulston Grange on London Road in the parish of Elvaston. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost is of the bobbin type, featuring a narrow circular stem and a cylindrical head with a moulded top, standing approximately 3 feet high. The west side of the head is inscribed with 'LONDON 121 MILES', while the east side reads 'DERBY 5 MILES'. Both inscriptions are in raised lettering and set within small panels. The milepost is marked 'HARRISON, DERBY'.
