Description

The Elvaston War Memorial is located at the corner of Main Road and Silver Lane, within a small hedged enclosure. It features a rough-hewn Celtic wheel cross mounted on a tapering shaft, which stands on a three-stage octagonal base. The front of the shaft is inscribed with "1914-1918/ REMEMBER/ ALL YE/ WHO PASS THIS WAY/ (NAMES)/ DIED FOR ENGLAND." Additionally, the uppermost stage of the base carries the inscription "1939-1945/ (NAMES)" in the same style. The enclosure is defined by a stone kerb at the front, which includes three steps leading to the center.
