Description
Week St Mary War Memorial is located in the center of The Square in the village. Made of rough-hewn granite, it features a Celtic cross atop a square shaft, which is set on a square, tapering plinth rising from a two-stage, square base. A reversed sword is carved in relief on the front face of the shaft, with an inscription below that reads FOR/ ENGLAND/ AND/ RIGHT/ 1914-1919.
Additional inscriptions are attached in metal lettering, painted black. The front face of the plinth includes the inscription 1939-1945 (2 NAMES). The upper stage of the base has the words TO THE MEMORY OF THE GALLANT DEAD on the front face, while the right face reads THESE ALSO, and the left face reads NOBLY. The names of those who served in the First World War are listed on these three faces.
The memorial is set on a concrete base and is surrounded by a chain suspended from four wooden posts.
