Description

Hayescott is a house with a 17th-century core, largely rebuilt in the 19th century, with 20th-century alterations and a flat-roofed extension to the rear. It was likely originally part of the Old College complex. The house is constructed of Polyphant ashlar, with massive quoins, and has a slate roof. A granite ashlar chimney with a rollcap, battered detail above a cavetto moulding, and a moulded weathering is on the left gable end. A second, lesser quality ashlar chimney with a moulded course is on the right gable end. The house has a single-depth plan and is arranged with two storeys and a three-window front. A 20th-century door is positioned off-centre, accompanied by 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. Shutters are fitted to the ground-floor windows, while the first-floor windows are raised into gable dormers. A moulded granite arched doorway on the rear now leads into the 20th-century extension. A cusped masonry light is visible in the left gable end wall, and later coursed walling is evident below the eaves.
