Description
This is a Grade II listed milepost located on the south side of London Road in the parish of Elvaston. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost has a narrow circular stem and stands about 3 feet high. It features a cylindrical head with a moulded top. The west side of the head is inscribed with 'LONDON 122 MILES', while the east side reads 'DERBY 4 MILES'. Both inscriptions are in raised lettering and are set within small panels. The milepost is marked with the name 'HARRISON, DERBY'.
