Description
Brook House is a house dating from the 17th century, encased in the 18th century with some minor later alterations. It features a timber frame on a stone plinth, mostly rebuilt in red brick, which is now whitewashed. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with pantiles, with brick gable stacks and a central brick ridge stack. The house has three bays and is a single storey plus attics with a lobby entrance plan.
On the east side, there are two flat-headed, probably early 19th century, 3-light casement windows. The west side has a panelled door with a divided overlight and another 3-light casement window. Above the entrance, there are two raking dormers with 2-light casement windows set on the exposed original timber wall plate. The east gable wall features a 2-light horizontal sliding sash window in the gable. Inside, there is a plain staircase located between the walls behind the front door. The middle room includes an inglenook fireplace with fire windows on the sides.
