Description
The Shakespeare Inn is a public house with an incorporated stableblock, dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made to the rear wing in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted red brick and features a plain tile roof, an external brick gable stack to the east, and a brick ridge stack, along with dentilled eaves. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, plus a long rear wing. The entrance boasts a semi-circular headed doorcase with an unusual convex small pane fanlight, original glass, and a four-panelled door beneath. On the east side, there are two glazing bar sash windows beneath flat arches, and another similar window is located on the west side. Above, there are three more similar windows. The former stableblock at the rear has been converted in the 20th century and features a random assortment of windows.
