Description
The farm buildings located to the south-west of Shardlow Hall date from the late 18th century, with early and late 19th-century additions and alterations. They are constructed from red brick and feature plain tile roofs with dentilled eaves bands, forming an L-plan layout. The complex consists of two storeys and a single storey.
To the south, there is a three-bay barn, which has stables attached to the north and cowsheds beyond. The 18th-century barn features a central semi-circular headed doorway with plank doors and slit breathers on either side. Above the doorway, there are two large circular pitching holes and additional breathers. The gable wall facing the street also includes rows of slit breathers. The stables to the north have semi-circular headed doorcases and windows on the ground floor, with hayloft openings above. The single-storey cowsheds have similar doors, flanked by semi-circular windows. This group of buildings is included for its group value only.
