Description

Derwent Farmhouse, located at 36 Wilne Lane, is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century with some minor later alterations. It is constructed of red brick on a stone plinth, featuring gauged brick and painted stone dressings, along with a plain band at the first floor. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with plain tiles, adorned with chamfered stone copings on plain brick kneelers, and has a brick gable stack to the south. There is a dentilled eaves band as well.

The building is two storeys high with garrets and consists of three bays. The central entrance features a doorcase with a panelled door and a bracketed hood, above which is an original flat arch with a stone keyblock. To the north, there is a glazing bar sash window beneath a similar flat arch, while to the south, there is a 20th-century timber cross window, also with a flat arch. On the upper floor, there are three similar openings, all fitted with 20th-century timber cross windows. The gable walls also have similar windows, with the south gable wall now rendered.

Inside, the farmhouse retains an original robust column baluster dogleg staircase that extends through three floors, along with original panelled doors featuring iron latches.
