Description

The Firs is a house located on the east side of The Wharf in the parish of Shardlow and Great Wilne. It was built in the early 19th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is made of rendered brick and features a graduated slate roof that is hipped on the north side. It has a rendered ridge stack and a brick gable stack on the south side.

The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The main east elevation includes two full-height glazing bar sash windows on the south side and a blocked opening on the north side. Above these, there are two smaller sash windows on either side of another blocked opening. The south and west elevations have later additions, while the north elevation features glazing bar sashes on both the ground and first floors, along with 20th-century windows. The Firs is included in the register for its group value.
