The Quarter Deck, 1-2 Wharf Street, Montrose

The Quarter Deck, located at 1-2 Wharf Street in Montrose, is a house dating from the later 18th century to the early 19th century. It is two stories high with an attic and has three bays, forming an irregular terrace. The exterior features painted harl and render with plain margins.

On the south elevation, there is a five-bay ground floor with three doorways at the center and a window on either side. The first floor has three windows that are symmetrically arranged. There are also two canted dormers in the roof.

The west elevation has a two-bay gable end with a doorway on the left side at ground level. The east elevation adjoins 4 Wharf Street, while the north elevation adjoins 133/135 Bridge Street.

The building has timber sash and case windows with plate glass on the first floor. The pitched roof is covered with modern grey slate, and there are stone skews with small skewputts. Brick stacks are present at the gablehead.
