6 Wharf Street, Montrose

6 Wharf Street is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey and attic, three-bay tenement that forms part of an irregular terrace. The building features a mix of Tudor and classical architectural details, constructed from grey sandstone ashlar. Notable elements include a base course, a ground floor cornice, a first floor cill band course, and a mutulated cornice at the eaves.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, featuring a central doorway with a round-arched head and a fanlight with radial glazing, along with windows above on the first and second floors. The bays on either side originally contained shop windows at the ground floor, which now have two modern windows that block the former openings, each with wide segmental-arched heads. The first floor has stone-mullioned tripartite windows with narrow sidelights and hoodmoulds, while the second floor also has stone-mullioned tripartite windows with narrow sidelights. Above, there are piended timber-mullioned tripartite dormers.

The west elevation adjoins 4 Wharf Street, and the east elevation adjoins 8 Wharf Street. The second floor features four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the other windows have been replaced with modern versions. The building has a grey slate pitched roof with coped skews and corniced gablehead stacks made of brick with ashlar dressings.
