Description
4 Wharf Street in Montrose is an earlier 19th-century tenement building that stands three stories high with an attic and features three bays in an irregular terrace. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar.
The south elevation, which is the principal front, is symmetrical. It has a central doorway at the ground level, with a window above it on the first and second floors. The bays on either side also contain windows at the ground, first, and second floors, with canted dormers positioned above.
The west elevation is adjacent to 2 Wharf Street, while the east elevation adjoins 6 Wharf Street.
The building has timber sash and case windows with plate glass. The roof is pitched and covered with grey slate, featuring coped skews and skewputts. There is a brick gablehead stack on the west side.
