Description
The barn located to the south of Wilne Farmhouse is a threshing barn dating from the mid 18th century, with a late 19th-century addition. It is constructed of red brick featuring vitrified headers and has a plain tile roof. The barn is single storey and originally comprised five bays, now extended to seven. The mid 18th-century section includes prominent full-height central openings on both the east and west elevations, with three rows of slit breathers on each side. The eastern side is also supported by stepped brick buttresses. The late 19th-century bays to the north feature segment-headed windows and a door on the west side. Inside, there are four large mid 18th-century trusses with staggered single purlins, ridge beams, and windbraces. Each truss has a high collar, side struts, a crossed apex, and is pegged. The late 19th-century bays include a floor and sawn timber trusses.
