Description

No 22 is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 17th century with an 18th-century facade. It features rusticated stucco on stone with gritstone dressings and has a slate roof, along with brick gable end and ridge stacks. The building is two storeys plus attics, with a double fronted north elevation. This includes a semi-circular headed stone doorcase with a moulded architrave and keystone, and a lunette fanlight with gothic tracery. There is a six-panel raised and fielded door, and above it, a painted bull's head. On either side of the door are 19th-century margin light sash windows, with similar windows above. An off-centre drainpipe has an initialled hopper head. To the west, there is a four-step mounting block. Inside, the house features curved chamfered beams and two large stone fireplaces, one of which has a massive stone lintel.
