Description

The Anglo-Scandinavian High Cross is located at the west end of the south aisle of the Church of St Thomas Becket in Chapel-en-le-Frith. This cross dates back to the period before the Conquest and is made of gritstone. It has a rectangular section and stands approximately 3 feet high, set into a circular stone base. The cross features a worn interlace design on all four sides. It was moved from its original site when an extension was added to the church in 1975. This structure is also recognized as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
