Description

The standing cross with sundial in the churchyard of St Thomas Becket is an early post-Conquest structure, likely from the 11th century. The original cross head is missing and has been replaced by a sundial from the 18th or 19th century. The cross is made of red sandstone and features a circular sandstone base. It has a rectangular, stepped, and chamfered stone pier that stands approximately 1.2 meters high. The sundial itself has a square copper dial with a scroll triangular indicator.
