Description

No 1 River Lane is a house that was originally an inn, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features flint and clunch walls that are plastered, with brick quoins that are painted. The building has hipped slate roofs and is two storeys high with a double pile plan; the rear of the building may be older. The façade has three symmetrical bays and two stacks at the rear. On the first floor, there are three sixteen-paned hung sash windows set in recessed cambered plastered arches, while the ground floor has two larger windows. The entrance door has four raised and fielded panels, topped by an elliptical fanlight with glazing bars.
