Description
No 9 River Lane is a late 18th-century building that originally served as the mill house. It is constructed of local brick, which has been painted, and features slate roofs with end stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys, with a symmetrical three-bay facade facing north. On the first floor, there are three recessed sixteen-paned hung sash windows, while the ground floor has two similar windows set within segmental brick arches. The central entrance is marked by a round-headed arch that includes a fanlight and glazing bars, and there is a replacement panelled door. The mill may have been located on one of the two sites mentioned in the Domesday Book.
