Description

Nos 53 to 57 on Church Street is an early 18th century building with later alterations, which was formerly known as the "Ring of Bells" Inn. The structure features chequered brick with bands and has an old tiled roof. It stands two storeys high with attics, and includes three later windows in moulded wood frames, along with three modest moulded wood doorcases, two of which are coupled on the eastern side. The original window recesses on the lower storey have been blocked, and later sashes have been inserted. The building also has three gabled dormers with moulded bargeboards. Nos 43 to 61 (odd), the Old Grammar School, and the pavement in front of the Old Grammar School form a significant group.
