Early C18 facade with later alterations. Roughcast. Coping broken by two small gables with fretted barge boards, dentilled plaster cornice below. Old tiled roof. Two storeys and attics, two unbarred windows with moulded dripstones and louvred shutters. Moulded wood doorcase with pediment on consoles. Steps and railings.

Originally part of same building as Nos 53-57 (odd).

Nos 43 to 61 (odd), and the Old Grammar School and the pavement at the front of the Old Grammar School form a group of the greatest importance.
