Description
Hulland House is a late 18th-century building located on the southeast side of Church Street. It is constructed of red brick and features moulded plaster eaves with a brick blocking course above. The house has three storeys and four windows, with the western window set in a recessed part. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and they have moulded keyblocks and engraved lintels. The lower windows are fitted with cast iron guards on stone plinths. The entrance door is framed by a stuccoed architrave topped with a curved moulded pediment, and there is a Roman arched entrance on the west side.
Hulland House is part of a group that includes Nos 38, 40, and 72, Pegg's Almshouses, Owlfield's Almshouses, The Mansion, the Summerhouse, and the cobbled pavements, all of which are associated with the parish Church of St Oswald and its churchyard gate piers, gates, and walls.
