Description

38 Church Street is an 18th-century building constructed of red brick, featuring a wooden cornice with modillions and a tiled roof. The structure has two storeys and three windows that do not have glazing bars. The ground floor includes two large reproduction shop windows with small panes, and all the windows are topped with incised lintels.

This building is part of a group that includes Nos 38, 40, and 72, along with Pegg's Almshouses, Owlfield's Almshouses, The Mansion, the Summerhouse, and the cobbled pavements, all of which are associated with the parish Church of St Oswald and its churchyard gate piers, gates, and walls.
