Description

Toplas Farmhouse and the attached range of outbuildings date from the late 18th century. The buildings are constructed from regularly coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, featuring intermediate and end brick ridge stacks, and a plain tiled roof with a hipped end to the west. The structure includes the farmhouse and an attached outbuilding, with the west range consisting of outbuildings.

The south range is two storeys high and has five bays, with the three eastern bays forming the house. It features two-light flush mullioned windows with 19th-century glazing bar casements. There is an off-centre doorway with a quoined surround, a heavy lintel, and a 20th-century planked door. A staircase leads down to a cellar located to the west of the doorway. The attached outbuilding to the west has two quoined doorways, one of which is now blocked and serves as a window, while the other has a planked stable door. Above this doorway are two two-light casements in plain openings.

The west range is also two storeys and consists of three bays, featuring three regularly placed quoined doorways. There are square window openings with glazing bar windows in between, and above these are two rectangular openings along with a tall taking-in doorway.
