Description

Colliery Road Bridge is a road bridge located at the southern end of Shipley Reservoir. It was built in the late 18th century and has undergone minor repairs since then. The bridge is constructed from ashlar sandstone, with red brick used on the inside of the arch. It features a single semi-circular headed arch adorned with rusticated voussoirs resting on raised impost blocks and a stone base. Above the arch, there is a plain band and parapets. The north side of the arch includes later iron strapping. This bridge was built as part of the reservoir that supplies water to the Nutbrook Canal, which was constructed in the 1790s by the Miller-Mundys of Shipley Hall.
