Description
Paul's Arm Bridge, located at the southern end of Shipley Reservoir, is a late 18th-century structure made of red brick and ashlar sandstone. It features two semi-circular stone arches with rusticated voussoirs set on a red brick base, complemented by stone triangular cutwaters on either side of the central pier. The bridge has ashlar spandrels, a plain band, and parapets above. The side walls curve outward and terminate in square piers. This bridge was built as part of the reservoir that supplies water to the Nutbrook Canal, which was constructed in the 1790s by the Miller-Mundys of Shipley Hall.
