Description

Nottingham Lodge is a lodge house built around 1910, likely designed by Walter Tapper for the Miller-Mundys of Shipley Hall. The building features randomly coursed sandstone with sandstone dressings and a steeply pitched concrete tile roof in a cruciform plan, topped with a large central stone stack and chamfered stone copings on plain kneelers at the gables. It is square in plan with wide gabled bays on each side and consists of a single storey plus attics.

The north elevation showcases a six-light recessed and ovolo moulded mullion window with leaded lights and a returned hoodmould. Each corner of the lodge has a semi-circular arch with a moulded edge, which is repeated on all facades, creating small covered areas with arches on two sides. Inside the eastern arch, there is a two-light recessed mullion window, while the western arch contains a moulded doorcase with a studded wooden door facing north and a two-light mullion window facing west. Above this, in the gable, is a five-light mullion window similar to the one below, along with a central plaque featuring the crest of the Mundy family set in a rusticated surround. Other elevations are similar, featuring two and three-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, as well as thin ventilation slits at the top of the gables.
