Description
The bridge, located 170 metres north of The Mill House, is a single-track road bridge over Croxdale Beck, built around 1760 by Christopher Ebdon. It is constructed from tooled squared sandstone with an ashlar centre section, dressings, and parapet, showcasing a classical style. Both faces of the bridge are similar, featuring three sections defined by thin piers with chamfered rustication. The wide elliptical arch spans the river, with chamfered voussoirs and a projecting keystone beneath a drip mould. The flanking end sections include small elliptical land arches in rusticated surrounds, with the arch on the west side blocked. The flat-coped parapet has a centre section above a dentilled cornice, with slightly raked-down flanking sections above a road-level band. Each section is defined by a square-plan pier topped with a pyramidal cap, and there are short splayed retaining walls at both ends.
