Description

Dale and Green and Midland Bank is a bank and shop that incorporates the remains of a house at the rear. The building features a 17th-century rear wing and a late 19th-century block facing the street. The rear wing is constructed of ashlar with a Welsh slate roof, featuring a coped gable on decorative kneelers and a stone end stack. It has two storeys and a plinth. The north side includes a two-storey canted bay with stone mullioned windows, some of which have replacement mullions, along with a blocked doorway to the left and a later door next to it. The south side has three-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors. The gable end has two similar two-light windows and two single-light windows above. Inside the ground floor of the gable end, there is a massive fireplace with a chamfered bressumer that spans nearly the entire width of the house, though one end is truncated.

The block facing the street is also made of ashlar and features moulded end and rear lateral stacks. It has two storeys and attics, presenting a balanced asymmetrical composition in Jacobethan style with three curved gables topped with finials. The bank section has a six-light window with a king mullion and an entrance beneath a highly enriched hood supported by brackets. The shop section includes a late 19th-century shop front on the ground floor and mullion and transom windows above.
