Description
The Former Technical College Annexe, dated 1912, is a three-storey building with a basement, designed in the Renaissance style. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a slight central projection with one window. The building has a total of seven sash windows, each set within moulded stone architraves that include a pulvinated frieze. The outer windows are adorned with cornices, while the central window has a pediment. There are sill bands and quoins at all corners. The entrance is framed by a semi-circular headed Gibbs style rusticated surround, which also has a pulvinated frieze and a segmental pediment featuring a cartouche and coat of arms. The building is topped with a plain frieze, a modillion eaves cornice, and an open balustrade. The forecourt is enclosed by good wrought iron railings that return on the left-hand side and include a pair of openwork standards at the center. This building forms a group with Nos 25, 26, 35 to 38 (consecutive), and 40 to 42 (consecutive) on St Mary's Gate, as well as Nos 18 to 22 (consecutive) on Iron Gate.
