Description
The Lamb Hotel, built in 1861, is a three-storey red brick building with stone dressings located on Hospital Street. The central section of the façade projects and features three windows, with the central window consisting of three lights. Each window has a painted stone surround, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice. On either side, there are two-windowed bays that also project. The ground floor windows have stone surrounds with semi-circular heads and keyblocks. A Tuscan column portico supports the entrance, which has an arched doorway with a pair of six-panelled doors and steps leading up to it. The building is detailed with stone floor bands, quoins at the sides, and moulded stone eaves, topped with a slate roof. To the left, there is a narrow four-storey wing with a square-headed covered way leading to the yard. The Lamb Hotel, along with Nos 9 to 17 (odd) and Nos 21 to 25 (odd), forms a group.
