Description
The Court House, built around 1796, is a three-storey building with a basement. It features plum-coloured brick set on a stone plinth up to the ground floor cill level. There are stone strings at the cill levels of the first and second floors, along with a stone frieze, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course topped with moulded coping. The upper floors have three sash windows, with the central window on the first floor being arched and set in an arched recess. The glazing has been altered. On the ground floor, there are two segmental-headed windows that are five panes wide, featuring radiating and wreathed glazing in the heads. The entrance includes an eight-panel central door with heavily moulded panels, a segmental fanlight with a curved and circular pattern, and narrow sidelights with diamond and rectangular patterns. The bottom panels of the door have angle roundels. There are also two basement windows. A verandah and fine wrought iron railings have been removed. The Court House is part of a group with Nos 51 to 60 (consecutive), 60A, and 61B, which collectively form a group with No 62 (Castle House). No 51 is noted for its local interest.
