Description

This is a late 18th and early 19th century pair of three-storey buildings located on Castle Street. The buildings, numbered 59, 60, and 60A, each have two windows. They are constructed of red brick, with stone rustic quoins on the right-hand side. The windows are surrounded by flush stone, and decorative stone gutter modillions are present. The roof is covered in slate, with three brick chimneys. No. 59 has late-glazed sash windows, although the second-floor window on the left is a modern casement. No. 60 has glazing bar sashes on the second floor, while the first floor has been altered with modern casements. No. 59 features a modern shop front and a round-headed doorway with a plain fanlight. No. 60 has a projecting shop front from the early 20th century with a recessed central entrance and a plain doorway to the left, topped with a stone lintel. The buildings are set within a group that includes numbers 51 to 60A, 61B, and 62 (Castle House) alongside the Court House.
