Description
Nos 7 and 8 Narrow Wine Street is a mid-19th century brick and stone building that was formerly the Trowbridge Chronicle Printing Works. It is located in a flagged alleyway, accessible from Fore Street through a small passage to the left of No 31. The building has two storeys and features five ranges of windows with glazing bar sashes that include marginal glazing; the first-floor window to the left is blocked. The brickwork is in English bond with stone dressings, and there are brackets under the cills, keyed lintels, and a fascia band at the eaves level that has 'Trowbridge Chronicle Printing Works' in raised lettering. The building has flanking pavilions made of stone with doorways that feature battered rusticated piers supporting a keyed arch over a plain fanlight. The cornice is topped by stone imitation pantiles and a parapet, with No 8 also featuring a skylight. The roof is hipped and covered with double roman tiles.
