Description
Nos. 3 and 5 Bridge Street are a pair of shops with living accommodation above, likely built in the mid-19th century and altered in the 20th century. The exterior is made of painted brick in English garden wall bond, topped with Welsh slate roofs. The building is two storeys high and features four first-floor windows arranged in a 2:2 pattern.
On the ground floor, the shop fronts are from the 20th century and are not of special interest. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, projecting stone sills, and segmental-arched heads, with the first two bays containing 16 panes each. There is an end stack to the right.
The right side of the building features a canted corner for No. 5, which extends to Finkle Street. The ground floor here also has 20th-century shop fronts that are not of special interest. The first floor includes a 16-pane sash window in a stone surround on the canted corner, and on Finkle Street, there are two sashes with glazing bars in flush sash boxes, along with two additional 16-pane sashes, all with projecting sills. The roof over the Bridge Street corner is hipped, and there is a ridge stack in the center of the Finkle Street elevation. The buildings are included for their group value.
